1. Purpose
To prevent, prohibit and eliminate any form of ragging within the institution and to ensure protection, safety and well-being of every student. The College will take strict disciplinary and legal action against those found guilty.
2. Definition of Ragging
Ragging includes any conduct by senior students towards juniors, whether verbal or physical, that causes or is likely to cause physical, psychological harm, embarrassment, harassment, or danger to life, limb or health. Examples:
- Physical assault, forcing to perform degrading acts
- Verbal abuse, threats, derogatory comments
- Unwanted sexual advances, obscene gestures, intimidation
- Exclusion, humiliation, or coercing to act against one’s will
3. Prohibition & Scope
This policy applies to all students, staff, contractors, and visitors on campus or during college-sponsored activities (including online interactions and off-campus events organized by the college).
4. Reporting Procedure
If you experience or witness ragging:
- Report immediately to the Anti-Ragging Cell, Wardens, or Discipline Committee.
- Use the confidential reporting form below or contact the helpline (phone/email).
- Preserve evidence — messages, screenshots, recordings, witnesses.
5. Anti-Ragging Committee & Squad
The College has constituted an Anti-Ragging Committee and an Anti-Ragging Squad to examine complaints, take preventive action and recommend penalties. They will:
- Receive and investigate complaints promptly;
- Ensure confidentiality and protection of complainants;
- Recommend disciplinary measures and cooperate with law enforcement when required.
6. Disciplinary Measures
Depending on severity, punishments include (but are not limited to):
- Warning / Counseling
- Fines
- Suspension from classes or campus
- Rustication or expulsion from the institute
- Criminal prosecution under relevant laws
7. Support for Victims
Victims will be provided counseling support and assistance to ensure safety, and when necessary, academic accommodation. Reports will be handled sensitively and confidentially.
8. Prevention & Awareness
The college will run regular awareness programs, orientation for new students, teacher training and student pledges to cultivate respect and understanding among students.
9. Legal Framework
Ragging may attract criminal liability under applicable penal laws. The Institute will cooperate with law enforcement agencies if criminal conduct is established.
